Every church exists to glorify (make much of) God and make disciples of His Son Jesus Christ. But not every church does it the same way. That’s fine with us. We believe God has established many outposts to advance His way of life in this world. The Top 10 narrows our target, shapes our thinking, and guides what we do, and more importantly, what we don’t do.
What excites us? The Top 10
- We awaken passions for the God who rescues. It’s easy to change behaviors. Real change happens when we change our passions. We make margin for what we love, so on Sundays we make much of God through music, message, and response. We challenge people to fall in love with the God who rescues us from our own weak-willed passions.
- We teach people how to fish. Jesus said, “I will make you fishers of men (and women!).” In just three years he equipped his followers to change the world. We know we live in a transient and mobile culture. If you are here for 3 months, 3 years, or 3 decades, we want to equip you to change the part of the world Jesus sends you.
- We strategically partner with others to take back lost territory. We’re just one outpost of God’s kingdom. We generously support and foster relationships with other churches, non-profits, and organizations for the benefit of the city for God’s glory.
- We have the vision to think small. Jesus poured his life into a few. As we heard one man say, “When two or more are gathered, Jesus stops counting.” While we welcome numerical growth, our passion is to build people, not buildings.
- We make everything reproducible. We are all replaceable so we make everything reproducible. We pour our energies into maximizing our messages, materials, and methods. Lasting influence occurs when we repeat a few things over a lifetime rather than impact and entertain for the moment.
- We want to be legacy makers. A legacy is born when changed people change others. We want our children and youth to change their culture rather than be changed by it. We want to see women who are normally exploited by culture to feel cherished by Christ. We want to see marriages changed by turning roommates into soulmates. We want to change the perception of manhood by turning guys in men. Changed people change others who in turn change the world.
- We are a family for those without a family. It’s hard to find someone who was actually born in Charlotte. We long to create a place where authentic community happens and we practice the discipline of reaching out to the hurting, the marginalized, and the poor.
- We celebrate the game more than the huddle. We dream of seeing people make disciples (Matt. 28:19-20) wherever Jesus sends them. On Sundays, we gather for our weekly Huddle but our goal is to motivate everyone to get in the Game: to go where Jesus sends us from Monday-Saturday.
- We propel our people to own risky ministries. “Without faith it’s impossible to please God.” We dream of seeing our people courageously step out in such a way that if God doesn’t show up, it won’t happen. We want to develop a community that risks generosity in the face of adversity, sacrifices joyfully, and trusts God in the midst of struggles.
- We might as well have fun along the way.
